Strengthening local collaboration: Glencore’s Contractors Workshop in the DRC
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Kamoto Copper Company and Mutanda Mining, in partnership with the Regulatory Authority for Subcontracting in the Private Sector (ARSP), hosted a key workshop for Glencore contractors.
The event, focused on promoting growth and opportunities for local suppliers in the mining sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo, marked a turning point in the cooperation between mining companies and local economic players.
Marc Davis, CEO of Glencore Copper Africa, highlighted the company’s commitment to ethics, safety, and responsibility, emphasizing their crucial role in the sustainable development of the sector.
Clément Mufundji, Vice-Governor of the Lualaba province, praised the initiative, reminding participants that the goal of the workshop was to strengthen collaboration while respecting legal standards, particularly the subcontracting law.
Miguel Kashal Katemb, CEO of ARSP, stressed the importance of adhering to contractual clauses and encouraged Glencore to continue supporting local businesses in their development.
Several local subcontractors shared their positive experiences, emphasizing the support they have received from Glencore in their growth.
The event concluded on a friendly note, further strengthening relationships among the various stakeholders in the sector.
